Beschreibung
Scientific Organizers:
Dr. Jochen Bürck, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany
Dr. Dirk Windisch, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany
Prof. Dr. Bonnie Ann Wallace, Birkbeck College, University of London, U.K.
Prof. Dr. Anne S. Ulrich, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany
The aim of the WE-Heraeus-Seminar on Synchrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism (SRCD) Spectroscopy is to highlight new technical aspects of SRCD beamline design, novel methodological developments and experimental setups, and to present and discuss innovative applications of SRCD in the structural biology and related communities. The seminar will include experts in SRCD beamline design with a physics / optics / engineering background on the one hand, as well as experienced SRCD users from the biophysics / structural biology research area on the other hand. It will also be attractive for interested novices from the increasing number of research groups that are drawn to the growing number of SRCD user facilities.
In view of the diverse scientific backgrounds of the researchers and to emphasize the multi-disciplinary approach that is necessary for developing SRCD and to foster applications of this spectroscopic technique in diverse research areas to be considered here the seminar is organized in the form of five topical sessions:
Session 1: Applications of SRCD on proteins and peptides
Session 2: SRCD beamlines: capabilities and potential
Session 3: Related methods, theoretical calculations and bioinformatics resources
Session 4: Time-resolved SRCD studies of biopolymer folding/unfolding processes
Session 5: Combination of SRCD with other biophysical techniques for structural studies of biopolymers
