PLANCKS is an annual international team competition in theoretical physics. In 2022, PLANCKS will be hosted by the DPG as a member of IAPS and is organized by the Faculty of Physics of the LMU Munich. PLANCKS will be held as a hybrid event from May 5 - 8, 2022.
IMPORTANT: We have decided to make PLANCKS 2022 a HYBRID event because the pandemic situation and the current current restrictions might still make the in person participation of some teams complicated or even impossible. Accordingly, a big part of the programme in Munich will also be accessible online. Here you can read about details of the online programme. For the actual competition, online participants will solve the tasks in their home countries under the supervision of a local contact person.
You can find current information on Covid restrictions and rules here.
PLANCKS stands for "Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students". In this competition, students solve 10 theoretical physics problems in teams of 3 or 4. One team from each country is allowed to compete. In many countries this team is determined by national competitions, in Germany this is DOPPLERS. In addition to the competitive exam, the focus is on international exchange between the participating students. The programme is complemented by lectures, held by renowned scientists. For more information have a look at the iaps webpage!
The event is hosted by the DPG as a member of IAPS and organized by the Faculty of Physics of the LMU Munich. We are a recognized satellite event in celebration of the IUPAP Centennial and part of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.
