HYBRID: QuanTour Kick-off – A Quantum Emitters Journey across Europe

This event on the occasion of the World Quantum Day 2024 is all about science communication and is aimed at anyone interested in light and quanta. How do you create individual light particles? And what can you do with it? We will get to the bottom of these and other questions and introduce the audience to the fascination of quantum optics. One highlight will be the presentation and farewell of a quantum light source developed by Tobias Heindel's research team at TU Berlin. As part of the "QuanTour" project, the quantum light source will then go on its journey across Europe, visiting 12 different quantum laboratories and meeting researchers from all over Europe. The journey can be followed on Instagram (@quantour.eu) with the hashtags #QuanTour #QTorch #SUPERquantum. Like the Olympic torch relay, it will get us in the mood for the "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025". The quantum light source will finally pass the home stretch at the DPG Conference 2025 in Göttingen with the topic "Quantum Physics".

"QuanTour" is an official outreach project of the DPG for the "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025". Get-together after the lecture, where the participants can exchange over snacks and beverages.

Dr. Pranoti Kshirsagar, Science Talk

Dr. Pranoti Kshirsagar studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and completed her doctorate at the University of Tübingen on the subject of graphene-based, transparent electrodes. She is the founder of “The Science Talk” and has accompanied the "QuanTour" project as an outreach expert from the very beginning.
Dr. Tobias Heindel studied physics at the University of Würzburg, where he completed his doctorate on electrically operated single-photon sources. Since 2018, he leads the BMBF junior research group "Quantum Communication Systems" at the Technical University of Berlin.
Dr. Doris Reiter works in the field of theoretical physics and simulates quantum light sources. Since 2022, she has headed the group "Theory of Solid-State Nanostructures for Quantum Technologies" in the Department of Physics at the Technical University of Dortmund.
