Topic: Low-temperature plasmas have the potential to revolutionize energy storage by combining with catalysis to store renewable energy in chemical resources. This innovative approach could significantly aid in the electrification of industries, addressing the current climate crisis. Despite their promise, the complex nature of plasmas makes it challenging to understand and utilize their interactions with matter fully. This talk will delve into the fundamentals of atmospheric pressure non-equilibrium plasmas and their applications in biocatalysis, gas conversion, and catalyst design. We will present both theoretical and experimental research, highlighting the current challenges and opportunities in this field.
CV: Judith Golda, born in 1989, has been a junior professor and head of the ‘Plasma Interface Physics’ working group at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2020. Her research focuses on the fundamental interaction between plasmas and matter and the sustainable use of atmospheric pressure plasmas.
Following the lecture, there will be a get-together where participants can exchange ideas with each other over pizza and drinks in the Remise and the garden of the Magnus-Haus.
The event is sponsored by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.
